Though he died more than 180 years ago, Jefferson’s name lives on in numerous geographical and man-made features in the United States, such as parks, memorials, buildings, rivers, mountains, and schools, as well as in awards and institutions that honor his contributions and interests in various fields. He has even had a plant and an extinct sloth named for him.
