About

Jefferson Today is a forum where scholars, public figures, and the general public can debate and interpret Thomas Jefferson’s ideas and apply them to the events and challenges of the present day.

Jefferson was the most articulate exponent of American nationhood in U.S. history.  His words and ideas, expressed in over 18,000 public and private documents, defined his world and continue to define ours.

A project of the Robert H. Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies at Monticello, Jefferson Today serves as a dynamic roundtable where any individual, in any country, can discuss how Jefferson’s thoughts resonate in the current world.
